‘Zoomed In’

Being 50 coincided with the pandemic and my only child being ill for a prolonged period of time. She is better but my sadness lingered. Here I explore ageing, sadness and parenthood through a series of self portraits.

Set within the constraints of the home (reminiscent of lockdown) domestic elements create the backdrop – the hearth, bedspreads, computer screens and mirrors.
screen light (evocative of candlelight in classical paintings) becomes a domestic twilight where anxieties are magnified.
